Learning About The World Forum Foundation

This week as a class assignment, we were asked to get in contact with two established early childhood professionals. Since I'm eager to hear, read and learn about varied responses, opinions, trials and outcomes in teachings (and real world experinces) from people around the world as well as locally.... I automatically liked the idea.  But I can't lie…I was VERY skeptical that ANY professional would have the time to take out time out of their busy schedules to respond back to me. After all I'm probably one of hundreds of emails he or she receives and if it isn't pertaining to this important task of children…..why would they contact me? So you know what I did?????? I chose option 2…Learning about an early childhood organization.

The main objective for option 2 of our Blog assignments was for us to immerse ourselves in a early childhood organization's website of our choosing and learn the specific ways that the organization supports the early childhood community and the resources it offers.
I first researched the list of resources provided, but I ALREADY knew which website I wanted to know about in greater depths. I always wanted to research it more but hadn't had the time. And now was the perfect opportunity to get to know the WORLD FORUM FOUNDATION! And I found out they're on FB (Facebook) and now I can get their updates when they post them.

The World Forum is a foundation whose mission is to "promote an on-going global exchange of ideas on the delivery of quality services for young children in diverse settings. This mission is accomplished through convening gatherings of early childhood professionals around the world and by promoting the continuing exchange of ideas among participants."

Why I chose the World Forum is because (in my opinion), they are the ULTIMATE "FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH" when it comes to issues pertaining to early childhood education. DID YOU KNOW that every two years 600 - 800 EC (early childhood) professionals from over 80 different countries gather together in ONE ARENA and share ideas and thoughts and solutions, for a wide range of issues that impact our children and families? DID YOU KNOW, that these people gather together in efforts to launch global projects on specific issues and topics? And I bet you thought that only TWO HEADS were better than one, LOL!

They also have Podcasts that features select EC professionals and their ideas AND GUESS WHAT ELSE…YOU CAN CONTACT THE FORUM DIRECTLY! They openly accept questions ideas and comments from everyday people. Now if they actually have the time to get back to you is another question, but I plan on testing it out ;0). I also welcome the challenge of contacting some of the professionals from their Forum Radio…yes they have their own radio and podcasts.

  1. Banae,

I totally agree with you as I feel that this is a wonderful idea as we will be able to collaborate with other professionals to see how they respond to various situations. I think this will be very good learning process as different countries standards may differ from the ones used in our education system. I am so eager to starting this project and I hope that you are able to make contact with someone as well so that we can make this learning experience worthwhile.

  2. You chose a really awesome organization to learn about. I have to say that as a military person who deploys and my friends that deploy, the saddest thing we always see are the children in the counties we deploy to. Most recently we have begun to volunteer time and supplies to children in afghanistan after seeing the conditions they live in. It absolutley breaks our hearts to not be able to do more than we are able for these children.
