~ My Personal Research Journey ~

Research is a bunch of information compiled from many different sources that enables us to get a greater depth of understanding about the particular subject.  Generally I would like to learn more about the psychological outcomes of children who grew up with play versus those children who had to grow up without it.  What I already know about researchers is that a researcher has to have a profound passion for the subject to gather all of the information needed to bring his or her point across.  If I had to research this topic myself, the three subtopics I think I would formulate would be: (1) The emotional outcomes of children who grew up with play versus those who grew up without it.  (2) Are these emotional and psychological outcomes healthy?   And (3) Is there a middle ground to satisfy both outcomes?
If I had to focus on just one of the three it would be the third IS THERE A MIDDLE GROUND TO SATISFY BOTH OUTCOMES.  My personal reason for choosing this is that I feel that play impacts our lives tremendously whether we know it or not; and to eliminate play will somehow devastate our future generations.  Professionally I chose this topic because I find that using play as a basis to learning is more effective than “drilling” knowledge into our young ones. But in efforts to keep an open mind I'd like to compare both strategies.
My question to my colleagues is do any of you have any any advice or insight or resources that I can tap into that might possibly help me with this process?  Or do you think I may be wasting my time?
