MY SUPPORTS

fyi: THIS PARTICULAR BLOG POST IS DEDICATED TO MY SUPPORT SYSTEMS

The factors in my daily environment, that are supportive to me are: my church sisters, my spouse, and my family.
On a day-to-day basis, I wake up at about 5am, I pray and I start my day. I go to work which can be very trying at times. I'm there for 8.5 hrs a day. I then run any of my necessary errands after work, be it shopping or some after school activity. I come home usually an hour after that and I have homework to do with my children and homework to do myself. Then I put dinner on the table, make sure the kids and I are bathed in preparation for the following day and try to get in the bed for the hopes of at least 6hours of uninterrupted sleep. And since it's winter their asthma flares up so bad, that most nights I'm up giving them treatments and making sure they're breathing alright.
My church sisters are a constant driving force in my life. They pray with me and for me. They help me when there's no one there to help me. They provide with anything that they can (in their means) if they think it can help me with the boys and with my walk with God.
My spouse, another strong support and a wonderful man of God, is always there to provide me with what I need to hear when I feel I am at my wits end. He encourages me to "stay with it", when I want to throw in the towel and call it quits. He is an inspiration, that reminds me of the hardships that we've overcome and that with God on our side we will continue to thrive.
My family...provides the support I need by giving me a different kind of love and a well needed laugh. And laughter is the key to a happy life (in my personal opinion - anyway). My family makes jokes about anything and everything, and has a way of making you laugh about something you felt was the worse situation in the world! They always make me see the "silver lining in the clouds of doubt" by means of laughter. Even to my children! For example, today I was trying to be funny and shocking and I called my 9yr old boy Sally when he wasn't paying attention to me, and he surprised me when he said "Yes, Joey...you called me?", LOL! I was like wow. My family puts a smile on my face.
The benefits of these supports is me being a happy Evangelist, woman, mom, wife and friend. These supports make me and keeps me a well rounded person and it will be extremely difficult to even try to exist without these supports. HOW DIFFICULT YOU ASK??? It WoUlD bE LiKe HeLL!!! No....I take that back it would be so difficult to live without my support system, it would be easier to ICE SKATE IN HELL.
So obviously these supports have a great impact on my life.
For my assignment this week, I had to imagine myself with a specific challenge (that I don't have: I chose being blind), and think of the kind of supports I would need emotionally, practically, and physically and the ways these factors would provide support. Well, if I were blind, I think I would need the emotional support I would need would have to come mostly from my husband, I would need the practical support of tools such as the Braille, talking watches, clocks, thermometers, calculators, etc. And the physical support I would need would probably be a seeing eye dog or a cane.
The potential benefits of these supports would to make life easier and to help me "see" what I really can't. I bet life would be just as difficult to exist without these supports if I were blind as it would be to live without my real life supports now. The impact would most likely be detrimental if they weren’t there. If my husband wasn't there to love me through it. Or a talking thermometer to tell me my children's temperature when their sick or a seeing eye dog to help me "see" what I can't, or get for me what a child has moved. Without those hypothetical supports, I would imagine that life would be very hard.
Fortunately enough I have the supports I need right now to deal with the life I have right now, And I thank GOD every day for blessing me with the people he has placed in my life!

  1. Family is always your biggest cheerleader. I must say that you wear several hats as a mother. I commend you for all that you do as you still manage to work, attend school, prepare dinner, along with the duties of motherhood.Your post was very inspiring and continue to be the hard-worker that you are. I wish you the best as we continue on the journey!

  2. It sounds like you have a wonderful group of supports in your life. I love that you realize that life would be so difficult without the people who support you the most.
